Futile Wanderings is now avaliable on Facebook. Check it out!

It begins...

Your eyes are open. You're in a room. You must have only just awoken because your eyes still seem to be adjusting to the darkness. You're lying down. To your right, a faint red glow - a door, slightly ajar. To your left is the dim outline of another door, this one closed.

A tiny window, impossibly high but barred anyway, spills in deep blue moonlight. Small shadows cross the moon.

A vibration, like a rumble in your gut. And then...

A low growl... deep, drawn out. Unearthly. In the next room.

Instinct. You hit your feet. You are gone before you even move, though in your panic your mind still registers something laying to your side, something you might need later. You grab it, and spring into action.

What is it?
